future beauty: 30 years of japanese fashion, barbican art gallery london

The Japanese Fashion exhibiton in London I found was very insightful and worth going to see. Going there and seeing all the collections really broadened the idea and my knowledge of innovation design for me.

The peices that gave me the most inspiration were collections by designers like comme des garcons and issey miyake.

observing these peices made me think of deformity and aliens. something i have noted down for concept ideas.

this collection was amazing. it showed flat patterns on the floor and then how they look hung on a model. the process in which the flats transform into 3D is very inspiring. This is a method is I'll consider trying out.

alot of the peices gave a sense of surrealism.

___rough sketchs I made of some peices___

uneven compositions
evry feature of the dress has opposing structures
however the dress still flatters the figure.

weave.

unfortunately I didnt have time to sketch what this flat pattern looked like hung on the model however, it did look completely different when worn.
